What is Craft Beer?
One for the newbies amongst you all (you are not alone we can assure you), craft beer can be defined as specially curated and individually brewed beer made with the finest, high-quality ingredients. At Ramsbury, we have 19,000 acres of land including our brewery which was built in 2004. Inspired by the Wiltshire landscape, we aspire to be as sustainable as we can. Nothing goes to waste. Our world-class barley is grown in our fields situated close to the brewery and we source our own chalk-filtered water. Our process is impeccable and that is what makes our craft beer distinctively Ramsbury, colour, and flavour above them all. For those who are interested in our facilities, we recommend paying us a visit and experiencing our brewery and distillery tours.

Ramsbury Gold
Our first and most-known beer, Ramsbury Gold ale, is where it all began here at Ramsbury. The popular golden ale is rich and embodied, brewed with our own malted barley, torrified wheat, and English Golding hops. Delicately light in aroma and taste, this craft beer is great for all occasions especially as it is available in a range of sizes from bottles to mini kegs. For Ramsbury Gold fans (we know there are many of you), we have also made fudge with this delightful beer. Ramsbury Gold Fudge made in partnership with Marden’s Fudge is a delicious and creamy artisan treat to accompany your beverage. A perfect snack for beer lovers.
Red Ram
Get ready to be charmed by our first craft larger, Red Ram. This award-winning larger was awarded two stars at the 2021 Great Taste Awards. Bursting with flavours of specially selected malt and continental hops, this quality larger has a refreshingly crisp finish that will rejuvenate your taste buds. Distinctively moreish, we suggest drinking this alcoholic beverage chilled for the ultimate beer experience. Available in 330ml bottles with 4.5%, Red Ram is perfect to quench your thirst on a hot summer’s evening, or for sipping whilst relaxing after a long day’s work.
506 Ale
This smooth and continental-style blonde beer is one to try. We first brewed 506 Ale as a tribute to the American 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, who during 1943 in preparation for D-Day, were accommodated in Ramsbury and nearby villages. This craft beer is as impactful as its story, with a smooth taste and citrus finish this refreshing and inviting ale is available in 500ml bottles with alcohol.
Belapur IPA
Our Belapur IPA combines two popular ale flavourings: a classic Indian Pale Ale complemented by a traditional English Ale. The best of both worlds. With a fruity, citrus flavour and hoppy notes, this ale is the perfect alcoholic beverage for BBQs and a fantastic companion to fresh meats. You may be wondering what IPA stands for, well, simply put, an IPA stands for Indian Pale Ale and is steeped in history with its roots going back to the British Empire and its colonies. Sailors were looking for a beer recipe that would be easy to preserve on their long journeys from Britain to India and realised hop would be perfect for the job. Our IPA is no stranger to this and has a direct hoppy flavour.
Farmer’s Best
A classic dark amber ale, our Farmer’s Best bitter is delicate and rounded. The perfect session ale, Farmer’s Best is beautifully refreshing whilst being low in alcohol at 3.6%. Our craft bitter is malt-driven and great for every occasion, especially for those up-and-coming warmer days (we hope). Available in a range of sizes from 500ml bottles, pint bags and mini kegs, this beer is empowering and can be enjoyed at any time.
Honey Bee Nectar
For those of you who have a sweet tooth, Honey Bee Nectar is a perfect choice. A wonderful display of honey notes and delicate aroma, our golden-colored pale ale is the result of our cooperation with North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB). The ANOB is a beautiful landscape of peaceful open downland, ancient woodland, and chalk steams, all bustling with wildlife. The craft beer’s ingredients are derived from the AONB with lashings of local honey from our Ramsbury farm. A glorious beer that echoes the amazing British countryside.

Ramsbury Single Estate Spirits and Liqueurs

The wheat used in the production of our spirits is grown, harvested, and milled on the Ramsbury Estate, the still is heated by our biomass boiler which in turn is powered by our sustainable woodland. The spirits are distilled and bottled on site, and we can even trace back every bottle to the field it originated in. Getting here –
Once you arrive, parking will be in the field just outside. We will be operating a one way system so please follow signage. Please then head down towards the brewery and we will exchange your order reference for your tasting cards and then you can get tasting! (please ensure you have your order reference to hand)
Taxi drop off point will be at the end of the drive by Deerbox UK.

Get Tickets To Our Craft Beer Festival At Ramsbury Brewery and Distillery
Kick off your summer in style this year by attending our beer festival at Ramsbury’s brewery and distillery, which will take place on the 21st of May. Situated just outside of the beautiful village of Marlborough, near the Berkshire boundary, the Estate is putting on an event that you don’t want to miss out on in the lead-up to National Beer Day.
Tickets for this spectacular event in Ramsbury can be purchased online or you can buy tickets to the craft beer festival in-store for just £15. The ticket includes six half-pints and a glass of your choice, as well as access to a host of entertainment.
The long-awaited beer festival will get underway at 11 am and it finishes at 9 pm in the evening, and it’s set to be a great day for everyone involved. Amongst the action, you can enjoy a variety of different local beers made here at Ramsbury’s very own brewery, with all beers made from our local produce right here on the farm.
Children will also be able to attend the Ramsbury craft beer festival free of charge making this the perfect family affair. Classic beers and ales on display at Ramsbury’s beer festival
For all of you beer lovers out there (and we’re sure there are more than a few of you), you’ll be able to test and sample a range of the different types of beers and ales we have brewed locally here: our newest brew, The Platinum Pale included, which was inspired by the upcoming Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, set to take place between the 2nd of 5th of June.
If you’re on the hunt for a more classic ale experience, don’t worry, our classic Ramsbury Pale Ale has not been forgotten. Pair with a dish from one of the many local food stalls in attendance for the ultimate Ramsbury experience: whether that be with a beef burger made from Ramsbury’s local meat produce, or even a pizza… this drink is perfect to enjoy on a blissful summer’s day.
Not forgetting the beer where it all began, the number one selling ale, our Ramsbury Gold; brewed with our own malted barley, will of course be available to try, too. For our craft spirit lovers, there is a cocktail bar too
What is not exciting about a cocktail bar? On the day here at Ramsbury’s Brewery and Distillery, we will be selling some of our finest spirits at our cocktail bar. Whilst you’re here, why not try our single estate gin, too? It is just one of the few single estate gins made here in the United Kingdom. This award-winning gin begins its journey on the estate as Horatio wheat and is then distilled through our 43 copper still; creating a sumptuous flavour that gives this drink a uniquely smooth texture.
On the other hand, if you’re looking for something a bit different, we definitely recommend that you try our wild apple or cherry vodka. Both combine local ingredients and natural flavours to champion the Wiltshire countryside, and will be sure to make your taste buds explode. The Ultimate Guide to Craft Beer Cocktails With Ramsbury

We all have a spring in our step at the moment (quite literally!)
The days are getting longer and here at Stockclose Farm, there are signs of new growth all around us. As a nation, we are looking forward to warmer weather and the wonderful opportunities to get together that the coming season brings with it. A quick forward look on the calendar highlights the chance to celebrate both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day as well as a lovely long weekend across Easter – another perfect time to kick back and enjoy the company of friends and family.
At Ramsbury, we are also thrilled about the extra holiday festivities at the start of June this year, as the UK commemorates Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee when we know that like us, you will be keen to spend precious time with your loved ones.
This year more than ever we’re all excited at the prospect of making our shared celebrations extra special and we know that when you’ve invited a crowd, our 9-pint mini kegs and 18- and 36-pint bag in box options are always popular, alongside our mixed bottle cases which offer a delicious selection of our craft beers.
But this year, why not offer your guests something really special by rustling up some craft beer based cocktails?
Here we’ve put together some suggestions for beer-based cocktails using the Ramsbury range – simple to mix, easily bringing a wow, and designed to make sure your gathering lasts long in the memory! Unusual cocktails are a real crowd pleaser, and we’re sure that your guests will be more than impressed.
The Beer-Mojito
Featuring our best-selling Ramsbury Gold and our Ramsbury Estate Honey. The distinctively light, hoppy aroma and taste of our much-loved Ramsbury Gold is the perfect ingredient in this refreshing take on the classic mojito:
You’ll need:
- 4 Lime Wedges
- 12 Mint Leaves
- 1tsp Honey Syrup (made using our Ramsbury Estate Honey)
- Crushed Ice
- Ramsbury Gold Ale
Method:
- Set aside one of the lime wedges, then squeeze the juice from the rest into a tall glass. Drop in the spent lime wedges and muddle using a muddler or the end of a rolling pin.
- Make up the honey syrup by mixing our delicious Estate Honey with warm water 1:1 and allowing to cool.
- Set three of the mint leaves aside, then drop the rest into the glass along with the honey syrup. Fill the glass with crushed ice, then pour over the Ramsbury Gold. Stir upwards from the bottom using a long-handled spoon to evenly disperse the lime juice and mint.
- Garnish the rim with the remaining lime wedge and scatter over the rest of the mint leaves.
The Michelada
featuring our award-winning Ramsbury Red Ram: a winner at the 2021 Great Taste Awards, the crisp and refreshing finish of our celebrated Red Ram will ensure that this traditional beer based cocktail from Mexico is a real thirst quencher.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 4tbsp Sea Salt
- Juice of 6 Limes
- Ice Cubes
- Ramsbury Red Ram
- Tabasco Sauce or Worcestershire sauce (to serve)
Method:
- Pour 4 tbsp sea salt onto a plate. Dip 4 long glasses into the juice of 6 limes, then into the salt, so you get a little salt rim around the top of the glass.
- Add ice to each glass, then divide the lime juice between the glasses and top up with Ramsbury Red Ram.
- Finish with a dash of Tabasco or Worcestershire sauce.
The Raspberry Beermosa
Featuring Ramsbury 506, with its smooth taste and citrus finish, our continental style blond beer is an excellent choice when mixing up this unusual cocktail, based on a delicious Raspberry Mimosa.
For this unusual cocktail, you’ll need:
- A Punnet of Raspberries
- Orange Juice
- Ice Cubes
- Ramsbury 506
Method:
- Place raspberries at the bottom of the glasses and muddle using a muddler or the end of a rolling pin. Reserve a few raspberries for later.
- Add ice cubes to the glass and cover with a splash of orange juice
- Fill the rest of the glass with Ramsbury 506 and add a couple of remaining whole raspberries as a garnish.
Honey Beer Julep
Featuring Ramsbury Honey Bee Nectar and our Ramsbury Estate Honey, this long hot summer version of the classic Mint Julep is the perfect partner to all those barbeques you’re planning – sweet, refreshing and definitely light enough for a second glass.
You’ll need:
- Mint and Basil Leaves
- Warm Water
- Ice Cubes
- Ramsbury Estate Honey
- Ramsbury Honey Bee Nectar
The sure-fire beer cocktail method:
- Place the mint and basil leaves at the bottom of each of the glasses, add a spoonful of Ramsbury Estate Honey and a dash of warm water.
- Crush using a muddler or the end of a rolling pin and leave to cool.
- Add ice cubes and fill the rest of the glass with Ramsbury Honey Bee Nectar.
- Next, add a couple of remaining leaves as a garnish.

The Moscow Mule
Featuring Ramsbury Flint Knapper and our Single Estate Vodka, this incredibly simple vodka cocktail dating from the Second World War recently came back into the spotlight and is now one of the hottest bar drinks, and with two delicious Ramsbury products in the mix, it’s definitely a winner!
You’ll need:
- A measure of Ramsbury Single Estate Vodka (for each serving)
- Juice of 6 Limes
- Ice Cubes
- Ginger Syrup
- Ramsbury Flint Knapper
Method:
- Add a measure of Ramsbury Single Estate Vodka to each glass and an equal amount of the lime juice.
- Add a spoonful of ginger syrup.
- Add plenty of ice cubes and fill the rest of the glass with Ramsbury Flint Knapper, stirring as you fill.
- Garnish with a lime wedge.
The Elvis
The Elvis is the perfect beer based cocktail base to feature our Ramsbury Belapur IPA in addition to our award-winning Single Estate Gin.
This cocktail from the USA is renowned for being refreshingly rich in citrusy, hoppy notes – so using our wonderous IPA and incredibly smooth London Dry Gin mean that this UK version can be as well-loved as its American cousin!
For this beer based cocktail, you’ll need:
- A measure of Ramsbury Single Estate Gin (for each serving)
- Grapefruit Juice
- Ice Cubes
- Ramsbury’s Belapur IPA
- 1 Mint Sprig (to garnish)
Method:
- Add a measure of Ramsbury Single Estate Gin to each glass and stir in a splash of grapefruit juice.
- Add plenty of ice cubes and fill the rest of the glass with Ramsbury Belapur IPA, stirring as you fill.
- Garnish with a mint sprig to serve.
