Pub of the Week: The Barge, Honeystreet
We simply couldn’t do pub of the week without mentioning The Barge at Honeystreet. Steeped in history and Wiltshire legends, The Barge has become a well-known meeting place for those looking to explore a little of Wiltshire’s mystical and spiritual history. From crop circles, to the legends of King Arthur and Merlin, it could certainly tell some tales over the years. Situated next to the canal, it makes for an ideal pitstop for walkers following the Kennet and Avon Canal trail, or to moor up for the night if you’re a canal boat resident. But it’s not just a place with a colourful history, it’s a lively pub, full of character. Think beers, live music, a lot of laughs and local beers aplenty. The Barge attracts people from across the world, and so you’ll always meet the most fascinating of characters when you visit.
The large garden sits at the front of the pub, next to the canal, and now features an outdoor bar with local ales – Ramsbury Gold is in prime spot!- lots of seating neatly spaced out and truly wonderful views. It’s a place for all the family, bring your kids, your dogs and most importantly enjoy yourselves. To the rear of the pub, there is a large campsite, which in a couple of weeks time will also feature brand new glamping facilities so if it’s a staycation you’re after, a few days here exploring the countryside will be memorable. Nearby you can visit both the Avebury stones and Stonehenge, or take a walk up to the white horse and follow the trail before returning for the evening and having dinner and drinks under the stars and fairy lights at The Barge.
Simply put, The Barge is a place for good times, for all. To find out more or book the campsite visit https://thebargeinnhoneystreet.uk/
