‘Pub of the Week’: The Swan at Wilton
Tucked in the picturesque village of Wilton just a few miles from Marlborough, The Swan is a proper ‘postcard country pub’. Well-known for its homecooked, traditional pub food and local beers on the bar, it’s no surprise that it is a firm favourite with locals. Throughout each lockdown, it has been running a full takeaway menu whilst also operating as a local pub shop too. With handmade pizzas, pies, freshly baked bread, sweet treats and veg boxes (plus plenty more!) available to collect, so that you could still enjoy a taste of The Swan within the comfort and safety of your own home.
On Monday, at long last, The Swan opened its beer garden ready to welcome customers back. And what a job they have done in making it Covid-safe! There are a number of sanitiser stations, including at the entrance for you to use upon arrival, the staff are all wearing branded face masks and there is plenty of space between tables in the pretty garden (which we can imagine is quite the sun trap of a warm spring day!) for social distancing. For those colder evenings, or drizzly days, there are individual gazebos per table, or you can perch yourself under custom built wooden huts, wrapped in fairy lights illuminated in the evenings and candles decorating the tables.
It’s so tucked away from any hustle and bustle, that it’s impossible not to feel instantly relaxed here. The atmosphere, décor and service at The Swan makes it the perfect spot for that long awaited meet up with family and friends. Especially once you’ve got a beer in hand! On the bar you can expect to find local ales, with our Ramsbury Gold, Farmer’s Best and the latest addition, our craft lager Red Ram, all featuring as the leading line up which is just fabulous to see. If you’re a G&T fan our gin can also be spotted next to an array of spirits behind the bar, and is served with plenty of ice and a slice of lemon for that light refreshing taste. We’d highly recommend booking yourself a table for dinner and enjoying a beautiful twilight evening here, as dusk here is particularly tranquil. The evening menu changes regularly, but you can expect to find an array of classic pub favourites, a gourmet burger menu and dishes for the little ones too!
We truly love this village pub, and are delighted that not only has it kept going throughout numerous lockdowns, but has re-opened with more enthusiasm than ever! Unsurprisingly, the tables get booked up rather quickly, so we’d suggest to book in advance of your visit. For more information visit www.theswanwilton.com
