Pub of the Week: Three Swans, Hungerford
Situated in the centre of Hungerford, the Three Swans is a 17th century coaching inn overlooking the town’s marketplace. It’s steeped in history, dating back as far as the 1600’s, and features the original archway that would have been used by horse drawn carriages back in the day! Now it leads to the large courtyard garden, glass fronted open kitchen and guest rooms. The Three Swans is so much more than just an inn, which is clear the moment you step inside the front door. You’re greeted by low atmospheric lighting, luxurious soft furnishings and contemporary art lining the walls. It is truly a boutique hotel. Through the corridor to your left is a large backlit bar, lined with rows upon rows of local and mainstream ales and lagers (including our Ramsbury Gold!), wines and spirits, served by immaculately presented, exceptionally helpful and friendly staff. Nothing seems to much trouble, and you know you’ll be well looked after.
By the bar, a large sash window fills the room with light where you can enjoy freshly baked cakes and afternoon tea or coffee. Afternoon Tea experiences are also available to book, with champagne added in if you’re celebrating a special occasion! There are several different dining areas on from the bar, which are neatly spaced out, leading out to the large courtyard garden. The decking and pergola features a raised decking area, with potted plants and greenery, as well as rustic bulb lights hanging across the garden. Plenty of extra outdoor seating surrounds the large glass-windowed kitchen. Inside is a proper woodfired pizza oven too, which is the perfect menu choice for a warm sunny evening sat outdoors. Their main menu changes regularly, and offers a selection of classics, as well as dishes that lean towards fine dining.
The Three Swans is the ideal location for those looking to enjoy the finer things in life, whether that be a romantic getaway, cocktails in the garden or afternoon tea for two, it’s a market town inn that combines luxury with tradition. For more information visit: https://www.threeswanshotel.co.uk/
